Inspiration 12 is here!!
Inspiration 12 has launched - exactly two years to the day after we released Version 11 - and with it comes plenty of new features that users have specifically asked us for, as well as some exciting upgrades to existing tools, too!
Plus, all the fan favourites are still in place like the RapidFire tool, the Link tool and our highly-praised Outline View.
We've compiled an overview of what you should look out for in Inspiration Version 12 - now it's here!
So, what's new?
- Insert mathematical formulas using the new Equation Editor! See it in action here 👉
- Auto Save feature - nothing flashy or fancy but a literal life-saver!
- New Start Screen layout - making it even more user-friendly and intuitive, right from the start
Our new feature will seamlessly insert LaTeX-based math formulas into notes or as symbols for you, and is designed specifically for STEM, to ensure your technical notations are perfectly typeset every time.
And, what's improved?
- A new look and added features in Notes - add bullet points or number lists and insert multiple images or graphics into your notes. See the upgrades we've made here 👉
- Updates to Presentation Manager for creating presentation slides - improvements to formatting
- Map View - new more modern, slimmer-look branches

Let's explore Exam Mode
Exam Mode is our upgraded toggle-on / off feature - available with Inspiration for Windows - which allows users to continue to utilise Inspiration during high school, college, or university exams - that stipulate spelling help cannot be provided.
It works by turning off the spell check and word guide functions within Inspiration and adds a red bar marked 'Exam Mode' at the top of the screen, making it easily visible to exam invigilators. We're pleased to say Inspiration can be used in exams under access arrangement requirements, as a standard word processor.
For JCQ (Joint Council for Qualifications) compliance, Exam Mode ticks these boxes:
- An invigilator 4-digit pin code to lock / unlock it
- Disable text-to-speech, in addition to spell check and thesaurus
- No built-in AI with Inspiration, as standard
- Continue to use Outline, Diagram and Map Views
- Inspiration for Windows works completely offline already!
