Inspiration increases productivity and time-efficiency, meaning 13-year-old school student Tom has more time to do the things he loves - like playing cricket!

Meet 13-year-old Tom - a secondary school student who relies on Inspiration as his normal way of working - to tackle blank page syndrome and to increase productivity and time-efficiency, meaning he "has more time to do things he loves - like playing cricket!"

When were you first introduced to Inspiration?

"I have used it for the last few years through secondary school for various writing projects - like a Christmas poem at primary school to a short story for English in Y8, and as a revision tool for a science end of term assessment more recently. And I have used the idea of brainstorming writing projects at school in class, where Inspiration hasn’t been available to me, and that way of working has proved helpful in getting me started."

What are the challenges that Inspiration helps you with?

"Inspiration is now my normal way of working, especially in some subjects. I have used it to help eliminate blank page syndrome when I’ve been tasked with writing poetry (not my favourite thing to do!) But I find it helpful to be able to throw ideas out on the screen really quickly instead of staring at a blank page not knowing what to write or how to start. And that visual ‘word bank’ really helps to get me going!"

Did you find Inspiration easy to learn how to use?

"Yes, very! Just playing around with it I found out about features and tools that could help me do different things, and just playing with it was fun. It’s very intuitive too and all the different icons along the top and bottom toolbars make it very easy to navigate and really user-friendly!"

What are your favourite features?

"I like the RapidFire tool best as it lets me get my ideas and thoughts out quickly, before I forget anything, and I like the themes feature for instant colour coding. It’s also great to be able to flip it all into a written outline to get started on a writing assignment. I am looking forward to using the Equation Editor in version 12 as I work through relevant topics in maths - as this sounds great."

What is the outcome for you using Inspiration?

"Being able to get straight on with my written work without wasting time over-thinking it and working out what I want to write is the best thing! I am really busy with cricket and football and so reducing the time I spend on homework (effectively increasing productivity and time-efficiency) is really valuable to me."

Can you see yourself using Inspiration in the future?

"Absolutely! As work ramps up at school, and with GCSEs in the not too distant future, I can see me using it more and more - for course work, essays, writing projects, organising notes, planning and revision."
